MEET OUR CHAIRMAN

Chairman Iwo Local Government Area

INTRODUCTION:
The origin of Iwo could be traced to Ile-Ife. Oarl tradition has it that the first king of Iwo was a son to Luwo, a female Ooni of Ife. The son, Adekola Telu was driven out of Ife after the death of his mother whose reign was said to be brutal. His father’s name was Obaloran, a senior chief in Ile-Ife then. ADEKOLA Telu’s first settlement, after migrating from Ile-Ife was at Igbo-Irita some 3.2. Kilometers from the present day Iwo. There about four kings reigned before the movement to the present day Iwo. Early setters of Iwo were t raditionalists who worshiped many gods (orisas) brought from Ile-Ife. Islam, according tto history, spread to the area during the reign of Oluwo Alawuas Osatalabi who named his son Muhammed Lamuye. The religion is today the predominant faith in the area. .
